Proposition 65

If you’re here to learn more or get some answers on Prop 65 – please see information below:

We understand how seeing a Prop 65 label on a product, especially a food-safe product, can be confusing, and we’re happy to explain.

This product is absolutely food safe and meets all applicable standards for materials that come into contact with food. The Prop 65 warning is the result of a California-specific law that requires businesses to include a warning label if a product contains certain amounts of certain chemicals.  These chemicals can be found in a wide variety of everyday items—from coffee and roasted nuts to household tools, ceramics, and even tap water. In some cases, the warning is required even if the chemical is present only in trace amounts due to natural occurrence or the manufacturing process.  Generally, these chemicals are only harmful in certain amounts, but it is total exposure that matters for the law.  So if there is a small amount of a chemical, but there is even the remote possibility that someone could conceivably be so exposed to it that it could cause harm, the label is required.

So, while this product is food safe for its intended use, we include the Prop 65 label to comply with California law and out of an abundance of transparency. If you have any other questions, we’re always happy to help!
